Hi Alonzo, I reported all these spams to Alan. According to someone on another forum I belong to, spammers discovered Nov. 11 how to get around those "readable only by humans" squiggly letters and numbers that had kept them out before. So it may not even be a real person who posted them here.

Thanks birdy—
When I saw not one but four copies of this, my blood pressure, which is ordinarily in a very good range, began to increase.
This "highjacking" is obviously not as awful as the highjackings of ships in the Indian Ocean by pirates who are demanding ransom.

True, but it's closer to home. It's annoying enough to get spam on my regular email, but I'd rather not have to deal with it on the forum.

I've deleted the "member" responsible for these posts, and the posts themselves. The one that started this thread, I couldn't fully delete without deleting the other posts in the topic, so I just removed the content.
As Lexigame is a one-person operation, responses to such incidents depend on me being at my computer. And when I'm at my computer, I keep an eye on the forum, so if similar incidents happen in future, there's no real benefit to reporting it - but feel free to do so if it makes you feel better.
As it may be a one-off incident, I'm not going to bother about any further measures at this stage. One simple response, if we started to be plagued by such spam, would be for me to appoint some regular forumites from various time zones as moderators, with the ability to zap unwanted posts.

Thanks, Alan - it's easy enough to ignore it in my email, but it takes up valuable space here.

Alan,
I trust you will keep your chain saw oiled and ready to go—I sincerely hope you won't need to use it again.
Ordinarily, I don't like the idea of chain saws as they are often used to cut down healthy trees. If there's anything this planet needs lots of, it's trees (and other green plants) to provide oxygen and remove carbon dioxide.
However, in this instance the chain saw is the perfect answer to impertinent intrusions.
