I thought I'd let you know about my next venture - a book of Chihuahua puzzles.

It should be available very soon. I am doing it through a print-on-demand self-publishing service, which means it will be available via online ordering only.

The book will contain 100 puzzles, with the solutions at the back of the book. It will sell for $US 9.95, plus shipping costs. If it's successful, it could be the first of a series.

This is what the cover will look like:

Linda - don't be greedy!  Alan's giving us this game for free! Cheesy

The book sounds like a great idea - portable, unlike my computer.  Good for bus/subway/train/airplane rides!

Hello, gang! Got just a mo to jump in here. Lovely idea, Alan -- so enterprising of you. BTW, I think special mention should be made in the foreword for those of us original faithful who have helped to popularize the game, add to its content and worshiped your O'GAGL-ness from the start!

Please let us know when it is ready to order.
As with every year though, it appears that Christmas has come too early.

A progress report:

The book is now available for ordering through the distributor, CreateSpace, on this page. Although that page has a Chihuahua banner, it's actually part of the CreateSpace site.

You may wish to wait until the book is listed on Amazon.com or other retail sites, as the shipping charges at this site can be quite high. But if you can't wait to get your hands on a copy, the option is there. (For Australian orders, shipping rates are very high. For delivery to the US, it may be more reasonable. You can take the ordering process far enough to see the shipping charge and then abandon it if it's too pricy.)

The book should be available through the main Amazon site within two or three weeks. A little later, it should start appearing on non-US Amazon sites, and on Barnes and Noble, etc. I'll wait until it hits Amazon before I start pushing it on the website.

You'll be pleased to know that the Chi community gets a mention in the Acknowledgements:

I like the new picture.  Very debonair.  Good luck with your book.  I suspect, though, that you will need more than 100 puzzles for $9.95.  Another idea is to take 365 puzzles and put the answers on the back of tear-off desktop calendars. I think that just might sell well.

Unfortunately, Roberts, you seem to have misunderstood my goals here. I'm not trying to sell my hat - I'm trying to sell some books.

The book is now available at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Chihuahua-Nine-Letter-Word-Puzzles-Walker/dp/1449920713/.

If any of you do buy a copy from Amazon, please consider posting a review there. I think people are more inclined to look seriously at a book if it has some customer reviews, even if some of them are critical. And it may also help make the book more prominent in Amazon search results.

The calendar idea is an interesting one, Tom. I'll give it some thought between now and the start of 2011.
