Well perhaps these people think the same about us, birdy, as winophobes!

no, it's true, I swear!  Or at least that's what they told me.  And yet they look like normal people.  You'd never guess just by looking at them that they could be so peculiar.

Ahaha! I know what you mean, both of you! I don't really care for wine, and if I do have it then it's a sparkly, lighter variety. Which real wine snobs tell me practically isn't wine at all. My fave at the moment is a Moscato D'Asti.

And as for chocolate, anyone who claims they don't like it seems like a total weirdo to me!

I have a confession that makes wine snobs shudder, too, Anonsi. If I do have a glass, its usually Lambrusco (as you said, hardly a wine at all), and if it's something else, I usually make it more palatable with a dash of lemonade.

But I'm quite encouraged to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't like wine. My wine-drinking friends regard me with something akin to pity/disbelief/horror.

And I really, really, really hate the headache I get from even a small amount of wine!

We have a dear friend who gets headaches and worse from red wine. There's something in it that he's allergic to. I can't even use red wine vinegar if I am cooking for him. Champagne gives me headaches, so I save a bundle there. But give me some Penfold's Bin 2 (Shiraz/Mourvedre blend) and I am in heaven!

I'm with you, RM!  Not too keen on champagne but a really good dry white is heavenly ... and luckily I don't suffer from wine headaches or hangovers!!  However; in my younger days I once over indulged on Bacardi (ugh) and didn't feel too bright the next day ... can't even bear the smell of it now!  Demon

Bacardi & coke is my favourite tipple, Linda. But I know what you mean about over-indulging - I did the same with whiskey when I was about 19 and can't stand the smell of it now.

I too get often a headache from red wine (even from a small amount),
but only if it is too young or otherwise poor quality.
The hideously expensive ones are usually all right with me.
Luckily I can tell which ones without tasting, the substance that
causes trouble gives the wine a blueish hue at the rim.

My first and only experience with Bacardi & Cola was something
I have been trying to forget for 20 years... At the end of 9th grade
our whole class went to Crete for a week to celebrate (we had decided to
go at the beginning of 7th grade, so we had three years to work and save)
On the first night we sneaked out of bed and had a party! I got sick and
the bathroom was already occupied, so I staggered into the balcony.
Next morning our teacher gathered up us all, and demanded to know, who had
vomited onto the hotel's owner's motorbike Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed
No more Bacardi for me, ever!

Nowadays I drink alcohol rarely, but my favorite is to pour a dash of something
good into my coffee, and top with whipped cream.
