Well done, Alan. Chit-chat seems to have taken off and it's nice to see that people who aren't forum members are posting on there. Who knows, perhaps they'll join the forum too!
I didn't realize that the chat starts afresh every day, and posted a message at the end of the previous day, along the lines of requesting that the messages might be displayed in reverse date order, but I see now that when the chat opens, it defaults to the bottom of the list, which renders my request unnecessary.

Actually, I amend that last bit. It doesn't seem to open at the bottom of the list after all.

It's meant to open at the bottom, Pat. I think it usually does.

What I've found is this, Alan:
When I sign on to Chi, it opens at the top.
If I scroll to the bottom, switch to the Standard puzzle then go back to the Challenge puzzle, it's where I left it.
If I scroll half way down, switch to the Standard puzzle then go back to the Challenge puzzle, its positioning is neither at the bottom nor the top, but somewhere near (but not exactly) where I left it.

Alan, if one interprets the bottom as the most recent chat, I would say that it never opens at the bottom unless there is so little chat that there is no scroll bar, at least in my experience. It would be lovely if it did.

Mine always opens at the bottom. I'm running IE 8 on Windows 7.

It does seem to vary between browser versions. I tried it on a computer with Internet Explorer 6, and it didn't open at the bottom.
I'll look into it and see if I can find a way to get the same behaviour for everyone.

Incidentally, it's "Chi-chat", not "Chit-chat".

So far it seems to be working really well for me. Much better than Vista did, anyway. I'm still having a hard time getting used to the placement of a few icons, though. They get us trained and trained to do things one way and then up and decide to confuse us. I think it amuses them.
Oh and Alan, I run IE 6 at work and the chat opens to the bottom.

Interesting. Anonsi says that the chat opens to the bottom on IE6 and IE8. I'm running IE7 (on Vista) and it doesn't.

I've just had another look on IE 6 and it appears that it opens to wherever I last left off reading it.
