Thing is, I've got to keep looking here in case you're saying anything rude about me and in case I'm missing something interesting! Bit of a poisoned chalice!

I usually like birds...However there is one pair of birds that are particularly irritating to me right now.
I think they are some sort of barn swallow. They have taken to sitting on a nail in the wall, and on a sprinkler head attached to the wall that I have on my deck. It drives me crazy. Mainly because they spend long periods of time there...meaning that they crap on my deck/deck furniture because of this! And they are annoyingly stubborn, in that they insist on using MY deck, instead of one of the other gazillions of decks that are nearby.
Also, I'm afraid they might knock something on the sprinkler head and cause it to go off, spraying water everywhere.

Perhaps I would feel differently if it were my deck they were crapping on, but I am thinking barn swallows would be welcome in my yard. They eat a great quantity of flying insects. I have to admit, I am not keen on bird poop all over my stuff.

Just be thankful they are not shitehawks [seagulls to everybody else!]... ...you should see the size of the things that nest around our houses...and as to the size of the bird shite they frequently deliver.... If they were on a lead you would need a pooper-scooper.... At the moment it tends to be a rather fetching aubergine colour because of the blackberries they are eating. but when that stains your patio tiles there is no getting it out..... The robins are pretty though, and the bluetits...

Crows can deliver quite a load, too. At least they earn their keep by eating the dead squirrels in the road.
