Uh, oh, that must be directed at me! Um, techologically challenged as I am...I did get through the photos today, and now I just have to figure out how to post it without going over the limit. When I've tried posting before, the photos all disappeared, and ended up in a file I'd never heard of. So, I may have to wait until a young person with skills and knowledge comes to visit - Natalya, where are you?

I had composed a reply, thanking RM and RF for a most enjoyable afternoon of conversation at the pub, but the silly thing decided I took too long without hitting the "post" button and I lost it. Oh, well. Sorry! RM, very glad you liked the drumming. I tried to line up a little something at the last minute, maybe a little more impressive than what we played earlier in the day, but that did not come about. Such a pity. Maybe next time? Wish you could have met Mrs. A, but she had to work. They dumped some major projects on her at the last minute, and deadlines can be a real pain. I promise you, she really does exist! Oh, well. I might need to spend some more quality time with my heating pad. Later!

By the way, RM, what did you think of the kilts?

The kilts looked great! The Drummond tartan was a fine choice, and the socks were a good match, too.

Those photos were really nice, R-M -- looks like you had tons of fun -- wish I'd been there to hear the glorious sounds as well as the sights!

A, looking forward to the parade on Friday. The weather promises to be warm, but at least you are marching in the morning, when it will be a little cooler.

A pity! I looked at the parade line-up. Your band will be right behind the Fairfax Rifles, whom I believe to be Civil War reenactors.

The band is still playing, but I will not be with them this time. Nothing serious. On the positive side, Mrs. A-non and I got to do some biking through some really awesome scenery. I guess we really should have brought a camera. Later!

More band news, but not all news is good news.
Due to internal conflicts, our band has cancelled numerous future engagements and is in the process of some reorganization.
This is a major source of frustration for me, but so be it. Life is life.

Sorry to hear that, a non-amos. I hope the members are able to resolve their differences and come back together.

Sorry to hear about your differences of opinion interfering with the main business of making music A. I had a look at the photo R_M took and I counted at least nine of you. Unless there's a clear leader/boss, it's always difficult holding a group together for any length of time.
We had a change in leadership in my small women's singing ensemble. The new musical director was a founding member who had been with the group for 22 years. Who would have thought she had such a soppy taste in music? Also that she would impose her desire to sing mainly sacred music on a group where half of us were not religious? Unfortunately, after struggling along with her for 18 months, we decided to disband. Nobody else wanted the top job, or for the very high standard and reputation of the ensemble to be tarnished. While we all miss Colla Voce, and the cameraderie, not to mention the singing, this was the correct decision for the group. I joined another choir this year, but I really didn't enjoy the leader's style (inept) of conducting, so I've left them too. Not too sure what my next move is. I think I'll just concentrate on my studies for the next year and have another think in 2010.
' Reorganization' implies that you will continue, but with major changes to what and where you perform. Hope it gets resolved satisfactorily.

It looks like the band might be getting back together. That's the good news. We will have to do some serious rebuilding, having cancelled all engagements for the immediate future. Having done so, our band's reputation is unenviable. It is unlikely that we will be playing at any stadiums in the near future, which is a real shame. In response to Bobbi: My previous posting might have been a bit too politic. In this case, "reorganization" would have meant the de facto death of the band and a major setback for that arcane genre of music. All we can do is hope for the best. - A
